PARIS (Reuters) – France’s second largest commercial TV group, M6, aims to spend around 100 million euros ($137 million) on a new soccer stadium for Bordeaux, the top club it owns, its chairman and chief executive said.
M6 head Nicolas de Tavernost also told an analysts’ meeting on Friday that programming costs at the core M6 channel would rise slightly this year.
He added that he lacked visibility on the advertising market, which he said was “neither good, nor bad” at the moment.

LONDON (Reuters) – Silverstone has added the British round of the World Superbike championship, that was due to be held at Donington Park, to a 2010 calendar of events that already includes MotoGP and Formula One.
Silverstone Circuits Ltd said in a statement they had agreed a new short-term contract for the superbike race after the event’s immediate future had appeared to be in jeopardy due to Donington going into administration.

MILAN (Reuters) – Inter Milan have put plans to build a new stadium on hold and will instead work with AC Milan and the city council to renovate the San Siro.
The famous Milan stadium is in the running to host the 2015 Champions League final while it is due to be included in Italy’s bid for the 2016 European championship once the government passes a new law increasing budgets for new stadiums.

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Red Bull New York will open their new stadium with a doff of the cap to the city’s most loved soccer player — Pele.
The Red Bulls will take on Pele’s former Brazilian club Santos on March 20 as they officially open the new 25,000 capacity soccer stadium in Harrison, New Jersey.
Pele’s emotional farewell to the game took place at Giants Stadium in New York in 1977 when he played the first half for his final club, New York Cosmos, and the second half for Santos in front of 75,000 fans.

LONDON (Reuters) – David Gold and David Sullivan, former owners of Birmingham City, took control of debt-ridden Premier League rivals West Ham United on Tuesday and set their sights on moving the club to the new Olympic Stadium.
Icelandic bank Straumur said it had sold subsidiary CB Holding’s 50 percent stake and Sullivan and Gold would take immediate operational and commercial control.
Straumur, who said the deal valued the strugglers at 105 million pounds ($172.5 million), retained the other 50 percent although Sullivan expected to attract more investment.

MELBOURNE (Reuters) – The Australian Open is about to undergo a major facelift as part of a long-term agreement to keep the grand slam at its current site.
Work on the first stage of the A$363 million (US$336 million) redevelopment will begin in April and is expected to be finished in time for the 2015 championship.
The plans include increasing the seating capacity on the showcourts, building a roof over the Margaret Court Arena, a massive undercover courtyard for spectators and improving player and media facilities.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Larry Ellison, chief executive of software company Oracle, is the new owner of the Indian Wells tennis tournament and the venue itself.
Ellison’s Tennis Ventures LLC purchased the entire assets from the previous ownership group, the businessman said in a statement on Tuesday.
