CHICAGO (Reuters) – Major League Baseball signed a five-year, multimillion-dollar sponsorship deal to make Bridgestone Corp’s Firestone brand the U.S. sports league’s official tire.
The deal, terms of which were not disclosed, is a new one as baseball did not previously have a tire sponsor, a spokesman for the sport said.
As part of the deal, Firestone will sponsor in-stadium All-Star Game balloting and be involved with other activities during All Star week. It will have the right to use baseball trademarks.
Firestone said it planned to support the deal with national advertising and consumer promotions.
