The Argentinian Football Association have confirmed that the country will host the 2011 Copa America.
According to the AFA’s official website the announcement was made in the CONMEBOL extraordinary congress in Nassau, where the FIFA Executive Committee also announced the 12 cities that will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup™ in Brazil.

At its meeting in Nassau (Bahamas) on 2 June 2009, which was opened by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter and chaired by FIFA Executive Committee member Mohamed bin Hammam, the FIFA Goal Bureau approved 26 new Goal projects and one new Goal Football project (see list below).
This brings the total number of projects approved since the launch of the Goal Programme in 1999 to 393.

European soccer officials will abstain if a vote is taken by the sport’s worldwide body this week to restrict teams to a maximum of five foreign players in starting lineups.

As part of the ‘Win in India with India’ programme launched by FIFA President Sepp Blatter in 2007, football’s world governing body has sanctioned 10 international standard artificial turf fields to the All India Football Federation (AIFF).

The Fifa president, Sepp Blatter, has officially approved the deal for exclusively English football teams to represent Great Britain at the London 2012 Olympics.
The four home nations had written to Fifa detailing their agreement for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to take no part in the Olympics but allowing England to represent Team GB.

The Asian Football Confederation said on Monday that its flagship club competition, the AFC Champions League, attracted more than one million spectators during the group stages – a new record.
A total of 1,037,702 fans packed stadiums across Asia to watch 94 group phase encounters as 32 teams slugged it out to make the round of 16. This year’s milestone overhauled the numbers achieved in the five previous editions of the competition.

Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett is standing by his plan to re-think the State’s $15m sponsorship of Hawthorn Football Cub, despite the club’s threats of retaliation.
Mr Bartlett said it was unreasonable for the Hawks to expect Tasmania to “roll over and have its tummy tickled” instead of opening up the deal to other clubs and pushing for a better deal.
