NEW DELHI – Suresh Kalmadi, President of the Indian Olympic Assoication (IOA) has accepted the regisnation of Mr Ashok Mattoo the Treasurer of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CGOC) and President of Hockey India (HI). The IOA has appointed Mr Anil Khanna, Secretary General of the All Indian Tennis Association as his replacement.
Meanwhile, Hockey India Executive Committee also accepted the regisnation of Mr Mattoo. The next President will be elected on February 7, 2010. Until then senior vice president Vidya Stokes will take charge of Hockey India.

LONDON – Dennis Amiss was today re-elected as the England and Wales Cricket Board deputy chairman.
Mr Amiss, who scored 11 centuries in 50 Tests for England, stood unopposed for the position he has occupied since November 2007.
ECB chairman Giles Clarke said: “Dennis brings a wealth of cricketing knowledge and opinion to the boardroom table and is respected throughout the cricketing world.

LONDON (Reuters) – John Booth replaced Alex Tai as Virgin Racing team principal on Tuesday, less than a month after British entrepreneur Richard Branson launched the Formula One newcomers.
The team, whose entirely digitally-designed car has yet to turn a wheel on a racetrack, added in a statement that Graeme Lowden would take the role of chief executive.
Booth is the founder of British-based Manor Motorsport, who have a strong record in junior series and secured the original Formula One entry before doing a deal with Virgin, and was previously sporting director.

MUMBAI- Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA ) has appointed Mr Praful M Patel,
President All India Football Federation as a member of FIFA Legal Committee in the FIFA standing committee.The decision was confirmed by FIFA Executive committee meeting held in Robben Island ,South Africa in Dec 2009.
Praful Patel was formally elected as the president of the All India Football Federation, thus bringing curtains to ailing Priyan Ranjan Dasmunsi 20-year reign as the head of the AIFF.

MUMBAI – Shailee Sanghvi has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Percept Talent Management (PTM). She will replace Vinita Bangard who decided to step down from the post citing personal problems.
Shailee, who was the associate vice-president of PTM till now, has been with the Percept Group since January 2003. As AVP in PTM, she handled the Sales and Marketing portfolio of Corporates, as well as the Celebrity Management and Relationship Management portfolios.

BERLIN (Reuters) – Dieter Hoeness has been appointed managing director of VfL Wolfsburg in a bid to turn the tide during a troubled season for the Bundesliga champions, the club said on Monday.
Hoeness, younger brother of Bayern Munich president Uli, spent 13 years as Hertha Berlin manager before leaving in June.

Jaipur (PTI) – Lalit Modi’s attempt to regain control of the Rajasthan Cricket Association failed for the second time in six months after the BCCI strongman lost an acrimonious election for the President’s post to Union Minister C P Joshi here today.
Joshi, the Union Rural Development minister, defeated Modi19-13 in the much-awaited election which was marked by ugly scuffles between the two factions.

LONDON (Reuters) – Former BMW-Sauber team principal Mario Theissen has left Formula One following the carmaker’s withdrawal and will continue as BMW motorsport director, BMW said on Monday.
“He is staying with BMW,” a spokesman said. “He will not be involved with Sauber. After BMW announced they were pulling out it was left up to Mario to decide and he has said he will stay as motorsport director.”

BERLIN (Reuters) – Bayern Munich’s Uli Hoeness ended his successful 30-year career as club manager on Friday to replace Franz Beckenbauer as president.
Hoeness, a former Bayern player in the 1970s who also won the 1972 European championship and 1974 World Cup with Germany, was elected at the club’s annual general meeting in Munich amid roaring applause.
Beckenbauer, captain of the hugely successful Bayern and Germany teams in the 1970s and who also coached Germany to their 1990 World Cup victory, becomes honorary president in a move announced a year ago.
