KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) – The searing desert heat of a Middle East summer will be no obstacle to Qatar hosting a World Cup finals, the Gulf State’s bid chief said on Tuesday while promising new heat-confounding technologies.
Qatar hopes to stage the 2022 soccer extravaganza and painted an alluring picture to the sport’s insiders meeting in the Malaysian capital this week.
“It will be hot, but not too hot,” the bid’s CEO Hassan Al Thawadi told reporters. “We are developing technology which will help with the June and July heat and conditions.”

Doha (QATAR)- Following its successful joint sponsorship of the tournament for the past two years, Abu Dhabi-based Dolphin Energy Limited has signed a new three-year deal with the Commercialbank Qatar Masters, one of four European Tour events staged in the Middle East.
The agreement underlines the standing of the tournament as one of the flagship occasions on the European Tour, while emphasising sponsor satisfaction with an event that will be staged for the thirteenth year in succession at Doha Golf Club from January 28-31, 2010.

DOHA- The Qatar Cricket Association announced today that Vodafone Qatar will sponsor the cricket league tournament for Division A and B. The league, which started last week, has registered the participation of 34 teams.
“The Qatar Cricket Association is delighted by Vodafone’ sponsorship of the cricket league tournament. Vodafone globally is a big supporter of the world’s biggest name sports like Formula 1, Champions League Football and Cricket and I’m sure Vodafone will play a vital role in promoting cricket in Qatar,“ said MA Shahid, President of the Qatar Cricket Association.

Mumbai-NEO Cricket today announced the closure of three deals with international operators- Qatar Cable Vision (Q-Tel), Pacific Broadcasting Services, Destiny Cable Inc. in the Middle East, Fiji and Philippines respectively in an endeavour to expand the channel’s footprint in the international market.
In the Middle East, NEO Cricket jointly with Arab Digital Distribution, the channel’s platform partner have signed the deal with Q-Tel, the only government owned cable network in Qatar. Through this partnership, NEO Cricket aims to reach out to the additional subscriber base in Qatar.

Qatar launched its bid to stage the World Cup finals in 2022 on Sunday saying that its vision of the tournament would help to bridge the gap between the western and Arab worlds.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, president of the Qatar 2022 bid, launched the process in front of a 50,000 sell-out crowd at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha for the Emir Cup Final.
