LONDON (Reuters) – Scottish soccer club Rangers <RFC.PZ> has received takeover interest, including from property developer Andrew Ellis, it said on Monday.
Rangers, 10 points clear at the top of the Scottish league with a game in hand, said it had been notified that Murray International Holdings (MIH) had entered into discussions with others about MIH’s stake in Rangers.

Emergency talks to refinance Irish sports broadcaster Setanta and save it from administration were taking place late on Tuesday, a source close to the company said.
However, the source moved to quash media speculation that the closing down of its TV channel was imminent or that staff were being called in for a meeting on Wednesday morning.

The Scottish Premier League’s board will meet again on Friday amid fears over broadcaster Setanta’s failure to pay £3m as part of its TV deal.
One club chairman has told BBC Scotland that the SPL must decide soon whether to stick by the Irish company or seek a new broadcasting partner.

Fears intensified for the future of Setanta last night as it emerged it has defaulted on a payment to the Scottish Premier League. Sources north of the border have confirmed a routine payment to SPL clubs, thought to total about £3m, did not arrive as scheduled yesterday.

South African cricket authorities are speeding up the launch of the proposed Southern Premier League (SPL) to cash in on the huge success of the second edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) here.
