LONDON (Reuters) – Formula One will have 12 teams this season, instead of a planned 13, after a late replacement for the USF1 entry was ruled out by the governing body on Wednesday.
The International Automobile Federation (FIA) said in a statement that USF1 had “indicated that they will not be in a position to participate in the 2010 FIA Formula One World Championship.

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) – The new U.S. F1 team announced Argentina’s Jose Maria Lopez as their first driver on Monday.
“Securing ‘Pechito’ Lopez for our debut season has been a goal of ours for a long time,” said US F1 executive vice president Peter Windsor in a statement.
“We’ve been following his career since he dominated the Renault V6 Championship in 2003 and we’re thrilled to have him on board as we return America to Formula One.”

ABU DHABI (Reuters) – The U.S. F1 team will use the Motorland Aragon circuit in northern Spain as their European base when they make their Formula One debut next season, they said in a statement on Friday.
The facility, near the town of Alcaniz, will be the team’s European testing, racecar development and logistics headquarters.
